"in:finite : pt 2" begins with “on stretching,” hints of Autechre colliding with a Middle Eastern string quartet in the midst of tuning up! Dissonance becomes the status quo, and a new synthesis is proposed. In “on mourning” it’s rhythm that keeps the score, as future cities rise out of the haze on long-forgotten planets, and memories refuse to lie buried. Industry and the chain-gang plod on as deeper flows get converted into life on the surface. Angels return in “on floating” alongside a creeping sense that all is not well. The doorbell rings, and suddenly emotion rises up to reassert itself (“on embodying”). The EP concludes with “on being,” as heavenly voices sing of hope mingled with the crackled sadness of regret.
